Martin Varsavsky, entrepreneur and founder of Fon, has announced an upcoming Fonera 2.0. This "will be an open platform for developers to build their applications on top of, much like a hacked iPhone is now." Not only that, the Fonera 2.0 will include a USB port which infinitely expands its functionality. Additionaly, the Fonera will be able to queue up tasks like transferring photos to Flickr, downloading torrents, transferring files from flash drive/hard drive over the network, etc. You can look at the Fonera 2.0 to essentially be a mini-computer with a USB port that can perform most tasks a normal computer can, but it does not have any additional peripheral ports.
